Venerating the Noble Qur’an
Venerating the Noble Qur’an
Venerating the Noble Qur’an
Part One
Praise be to Allah,
... Who sent down the criterion (of right and wrong, i.e.
this Qur’an) to His slave (Muhammad, peace and blessings
be upon him)) that he may be a warner to the ‘Alamin
(mankind and jinns). He to Whom belongs the dominion of
the heavens and the earth, and Who has begotten no son
(children or offspring) and for Whom there is no partner in
the dominion. He has created everything, and has
measured it exactly according to its due measurements.
(Al-Furqn: 1-2)
I praise my Lord and thank Him profusely. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah
alone, Who has no partners. He has encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge.
Verily, He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful. I also bear witness that our prophet and master,
Muhammad, is His servant and messenger, whom Allah has sent before the Hour comes
as a witness, a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner; and as one who invites to Allah by
His leave and as a lamp spreading light. O Allah! Bestow Your bountiful prayers, peace,
and blessings upon Your servant and messenger Muhammad and upon his family and
Companions.
O Muslims!
Fear Allah, Exalted be He, as He should be feared, and you will be among the
successful. Do not neglect the commands of Allah, as those who are deprived of piety are
among the losers.
2
Servants of Allah!
Remember that the Noble Qur’an is a favour sent to you by Allah, Who has made
it a mercy to the worlds. It is a book that guides to what is most just and right, bears glad
tidings of all that is good, and warns against all evil. Allah, Exalted be He, says:
O mankind! There has come to you good advice from your
Lord (i.e. the Qur’an, enjoining all that is good and
forbidding all that is evil), and a healing for that (disease
of ignorance, doubt, hypocrisy, and differences) which is in
your breasts – a guidance and a mercy (explaining lawful
and unlawful things) for the believers. (Yunus: 57)
Allah, Exalted be He, also says:
And We have sent you (O Muhammad (peace and
blessings be upon him)) not but as a mercy for the ‘Alamin
(mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Al-Anbiya’: 107)
If the Muslim is aware of the greatness and virtues of this Glorious Qur’an, which
only Allah, Who has revealed it, encompasses with His knowledge, he will pay greater
attention to this Glorified Book and Wise Reminder and will devote all his efforts and
energies to learning and teaching it, reflecting on it, and acting on its teachings, as much
as Allah guides and helps him in doing that.
Whatever the Muslim does to perform his duties towards the Qur’an and properly
thank Allah, Might and Majesty be to Him, for the favours of revealing His book, and
whatever he does to fulfil the duties of worshipping Allah, Exalted be He, his deeds will
remain lacking and far from complete. But Allah, Blessed and Exalted be He, grants His
servants His mercy and grace, accepts their little deeds, and rewards them in abundance.
O Muslims!
Are you fully aware of the greatness of the Noble Qur’an and its status in your
heart? Have you fully realized its virtues, goodness, blessings, and benefits? You,
Muslim, will never know the true greatness and elevated status of the Qur’an unless you
know how Allah, Might and Majesty be to Him, has honoured and praised His book and
raised its ranks, how the noble angels highly esteemed it, and how the prophets and their
nations, the people of the scriptures, and the humans and jinns realized its virtues; and
Allah is sufficient as Witness.
3
O Muslims!
The Lord of Might and Majesty has honoured the Noble Qur’an, raised it to the
high rank that it deserves, and praised it with its due beautiful attributes. Allah has
mentioned this Great Book so frequently that it has come to occupy the most precious
status. He has used the best attributes and the loftiest words to describe it so that people
may realize its greatness and appreciate the favour of Allah, Who has revealed His words
to people. The greatest favours are the belief in Allah and the Qur’an. The virtue of the
Word of Allah over other words stems from the superiority of Allah, Exalted be He, over
His creatures.
Allah has described the Noble Qur’an as “the truth”. Allah, Exalted be He, says:
Or say they: “He (Muhammad (peace and blessings be
upon him)) has fabricated it?” Nay, it is the truth from
your Lord ... (As-Sajdah: 3)
The truth is that which is constant and unchanging and which cannot be refuted. It has no
flaws and is never marred by any kind of falsehood. It is that which leads to every good
and forbids every evil. Allah, Exalted be He, says:
… And verily, it is an honourable, well-fortified respected
Book (because it is Allah’s Speech, and He has protected it
from corruption). Falsehood cannot come to it from before
it or behind it; (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of
all praise. (Fussilat: 41-42)
In describing the Qur’an, Allah, Exalted be He, says,
… (This is) A Book, the Verses whereof are perfected (in
every sphere of knowledge), and then explained in detail
from One (Allah), Who is All-Wise and Well-Acquainted
(with all things). (Hud: 1)
Allah, Exalted be He, also says:
Certainly, We have brought to them a Book (the Qur’an)
which We have explained in detail with knowledge. ... (Al-
A’raf: 52)
Allah, Exalted be He, also says:
… These are the Verses of the Book (the Qur’an) Al-
Hakim. (Yunus: 1)
4
Allah, Might and Majesty be to Him, also says:
Nay! This is a Glorious Qur’an. (Al-Buruj: 21)
Allah, Blessed and Exalted be He, also says:
... There has come to you a good advice from your Lord (i.e.
the Qur'an, enjoining all that is good and forbidding all that is
evil), and a healing for that (disease of ignorance, doubt,
hypocrisy and differences) which is in your breasts, – a
guidance and a mercy (explaining lawful and unlawful things)
for the believers. (Yunus: 57)
Allah, Might and Majesty be to Him, also says:
Therefore, believe in Allah and His Messenger
(Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him), and in
the Light (this Qur’an) which We have sent down ... (At-
Taghabun: 8)
Allah, Blessed and Exalted be He, also says:
And this (the Qur’an) is a blessed Book which We have
sent down, confirming (the revelations) which came before
it … (Al-An‘am: 92)
And He says:
And Verily, it (this Qur’an) is in the Mother of the Book
(i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of
Wisdom. (Az-Zukhruf: 4)
Allah has explained everything in detail in the Qur’an. Allah, Blessed and
Exalted be He, says:
... And We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur’an)
as an exposition of everything, a guidance, a mercy, and
glad tidings for those who have submitted themselves (to
Allah as Muslims). (An-Nahl: 89)
Allah has preserved it from any addition or omission. He, Might and Majesty be to Him,
says:
Verily We, it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur’an) and
surely, We will guard it (from corruption). (Al-Hijr: 9)
5
The large number of great names and attributes of the Qur’an indicates the
multiplicity and diversity of its sublime meanings. All that we have mentioned is but a
drop in the ocean.
The noble angels honour this Qur’an because they know its virtues. Allah, Exalted
be He, says:
But Allah bears witness to that which He has sent down
(the Quran) to you (O Muhammad (peace and blessings be
upon him)); He has sent it down with His Knowledge, and
the angels bear witness. And Allah is All-Sufficient as a
Witness. (An-Nisa’: 166)
In describing the Qur’an, Allah, Exalted be He, says:
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al
Mahfuz), Exalted (in dignity), purified, In the hands of
scribes (angels). (‘Abasa: 13-15)
Commentators on the meanings of the Qur’an say that these scribes “are angels”.
Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated that the Messenger of Allah,
peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The one who is proficient in the recitation of
the Qur’an will be with the honourable and obedient scribes (angels)” (Reported by
Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
With regard to honouring the Glorious Qur’an by the Prophets, peace and
blessings be upon them, and their nations that believed them, Allah says:
And verily, it (the Qur’an, and its revelation to Prophet
Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him) is (announced)
in the Scriptures [i.e. the Taurat (the Torah) and the Injeel
(Gospel)] of former people.. (Ash-Shu’ara: 196)
In his commentary on this verse, Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on his soul, said,
“There is reference to this Qur’an in the scriptures of former people that recorded what
was said by their prophets, who gave glad tidings of it in ancient and later times, as Allah
took the covenant from them on that.”
Allah, Exalted be He, also says:
Say: "Tell me! If this (Qur’an) is from Allah and you deny
it, and a witness from among the Children of Israel
(Abdullah bin Salam, may Allah be pleased with him)
6
testifies that (this Qur’an is from Allah) like [the Taurat
(Torah)], and he believed (embraced Islam) while you are
too proud (to believe).” Verily, Allah guides not the people
who are Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers and wrong
doers. (Al-Ahqaf: 10)
Allah, Exalted be He, also says:
Say (O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to
them): “Believe in it (the Qur’an) or do not believe (in it).
Verily! Those who were given knowledge before it (the
Jews and the Christians like ‘Abdullah bin Salam and
Salman Al-Farisi), when it is recited to them, fall down on
their faces in humble prostration. And they say: “Glorified
is our Lord! Truly, the Promise of our Lord must be
fulfilled.” And they fall down on their faces weeping and it
increases their humility. (Al-Isra’: 107-109)
Of the priests and monks who submit to the truth, Allah, Exalted be He, says:
And when they (who call themselves Christians) listen to
what has been sent down to the Messenger (Muhammad,
peace and blessings be upon him), you see their eyes
overflowing with tears because of the truth they have
recognised. They say: “Our Lord! We believe; so write us
down among the witnesses”. (Al-Ma’ida: 83)
When the jinns heard the Qur’an they believed in it, honoured it, and called their
fellows to it. Allah, Exalted be He, says:
... when they stood in the presence thereof, they said:
“Listen in silence!” And when it was finished, they returned
to their people, as warners. They said: “O our people!
Verily! We have heard a Book (this Qur’an) sent down
after Musa (Moses), confirming what came before it: it
guides to the truth and to a Straight Path (i.e. Islam). (Al-
Ahqaf: 29-30)
Allah sent down Surat Al-Jinn in this respect, and it includes great lessons, morals, and
rulings.
Never did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, recite the
Qur’an to any person who was free from arrogance, whims, envy and was not lured by
7
the ornament of this world and its enjoyment but he embraced Islam on the spot and
became a sign of human perfection. This is only due to the Qur’an’s power over the heart
and to its strong impact on the soul.
O Muslims!
If you become fully aware of the greatness of this Qur’an and its dignified status
for the Lord of the Worlds, Who revealed it, for the angels, for the prophets and their
nations, for those among the people of the scriptures who believe in the Truth, for the
Companions, and for the jinns, then you will know the status of the Qur’an in your heart.
This is something that every Muslim is quite aware of. If the Qur’an has an honoured and
dignified status in your heart, as befitting this Book, as our Lord loves, and as He
commands us to do, then thank Allah, Exalted be He, for this blessing, and ask Allah,
Blessed and Exalted be He, to make you hold firm to honouring the Glorious Qur’an. If
you fail to give the Qur’an its due honour and if its stature in your heart is less than what
befits it, then turn to Allah in repentance and try to compensate for the deficiencies you
have had and the time you have wasted.
All the good things and blessings that you now have, all the acts of obedience you
perform in this worldly life, and all the delights of Paradise that you will enjoy and the
punishments from which you will be saved in the hereafter, are due to the Qur’an.
Therefore, give the Qur’an its due honour and act in accordance with what befits it.
Allah supported the master of all mankind, Muhammad, peace and blessings be
upon him, with many miracles that would lead most people to believe in Allah, but the
greatest miracle of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is the Glorious Qur’an,
as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah sent no prophet but He
gave him miracles (for people to believe in Allah), but what I have been given, is
a Divine Revelation which Allah has sent down to me. So I hope that my
followers will outnumber the followers of the other prophets” (Reported by Al-
Bukhari, as part of the hadith narrated by Abu-Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him).
The Glorious Qur’an is the greatest miracle of all times, and it will remain so until
the end of time. The miracle of the Qur’an lies in its structure and rhetoric, in its
legislations and the comprehensiveness of its rulings, in its justice, mercy, and wisdom,
in its fulfilment of all human needs, in its eternal survival without any addition or
omission, and in its great impact on the hearts. Both humans and jinns have failed to
produce a book comparable to it or to ten of its surahs. Allah, Exalted be He, says:
Say: “If the mankind and the jinns were together to
produce the like of this Qur’an, they could not produce the
like thereof, even if they helped one another. (Al-Isra’: 88)
8
They even failed to produce one surah like those of the Qur’an. Surat Al-Kawthar,
though consisting only of ten words, was a challenge to them and they could not produce
anything similar to it. When the disbelievers asked for material miracles, Allah told them
that the Qur’an is the greatest of all miracles. Allah, Exalted be He, says:
And they say: “Why are not signs sent down to him from
his Lord? Say: “The signs are only with Allah, and I am
only a plain warner.” Is it not sufficient for them that We
have sent down to you the Book (the Qur’an) which is
recited to them? Verily, herein is mercy and a reminder (or
an admonition) for a people who believe. (Al-‘Ankabut: 50-
51)
Allah, Exalted be He, also says:
... Then in which speech after Allah and His Ayat will they
believe? (Al-Jathiyah: 6).
The Noble Qur’an addresses the human mind at all times and in all places using
arguments and proofs which the mind would accept and submit to. Man will thus
willingly comply with the truth, and he will grow to love the truth and abhor falsehood.
Conversely, he may choose to turn back in all stubbornness and arrogance after truth and
falsehood have been made clear to him in the Qur’an, and after all evidence has been
shown against him, but he will thus harm none but himself.
The Noble Qur’an uses all effective means to guide the morally accountable,
which the human mind may fail to understand. Allah, Exalted be He, says:
Verily, this Qur’an guides to that which is most just and
right and gives glad tidings to the believers (in the
Oneness of Allah and His Messenger, Muhammad (peace
and blessings be upon him) who work deeds of
righteousness, that they shall have a great reward
(Paradise). (Al-Isra’: 9)
The Great Qur’an provides the greatest benefit to those who are morally
accountable. It reforms society, spreads mercy and justice, sets the hearts right, brings
forth good things, and keeps away evil and calamities so long as the morally accountable
people regularly recite it, reflect upon its meanings, act in accordance with its teachings,
and learn it and teach it to their children and their community. Such was the habit of the
Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, who taught different nations the Qur’an,
in implementation of the commandment of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings
be upon him.
9
Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, ordered the governors he nominated and
the Companions in different countries to teach people the Qur’an and to teach the
Prophet’s hadiths to a lesser degree. He said, “So that people may not be distracted from
the Qur’an”, as he said.
The Qur’an guided the life of the Companions, made their power and glory, and
settled their disputes. There had never been a single issue or problem, whether minor or
major, but they found its ruling in the Qur’an. It enlightened their life and was their guide
to every virtue. The Ummah cannot be set right except if it adopts their path and follows
in their footsteps; it is only the Qur’an that can protect us from trials and turmoil, unify
our hearts, unite our societies, and solve our complicated problems.
Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
“Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, said, ‘Indeed
there will be fitnah (trials, sedition, and turmoil).’ ‘What is the way out
of it, O Messenger of Allah?’ I asked. He said: ‘Allah’s book. In it is
information about what happened before you, news about what
comes after you, and fair judgement for whatever happens among
you. It is the Criterion (between right and wrong) without jest.
Whoever among the oppressive abandons it, Allah crushes him,
and whoever seeks guidance from other than it, then Allah leaves
him to stray. It is the firm rope of Allah, it is the wise reminder, and
it is the straight path. It is the book that whims and desires cannot
distort and tongues cannot twist. Scholars never tire of it. It never
becomes dull from reciting it much, and its wonders never end. It is
the book that when the jinns heard, they did not hesitate to say
about it, ... “Verily! We have heard a wonderful Recital (this
Qur’an)! It guides to the Right Path ...”. (Al-Jinn: 1-2).
Whoever speaks according to it has said the truth; whoever acts
according to it will be rewarded; whoever judges by it has judged
justly; and whoever calls to it guides to the straight path.’” (Reported
by At-Tirmidhi)
If the morally accountable paid as much attention to the Qur’an as the righteous
predecessors did, regarding learning, teaching, and applying it, the Muslims today would
be in the best status. They would achieve glory that would give them delight and grieve
their enemy. Never have Muslims neglected learning, teaching, reciting, applying, and
caring for the Qur’an but their conditions have deteriorated. Allah made reciting the
Qur’an an act of worship. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever
reads a letter of the Qur’an will be rewarded by ten good deeds for each letter”
(Reported by At-Tirmidhi, as part of the hadith narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, may
Allah be pleased with him).
10
Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, said:
“A man said to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ‘O
Messenger of Allah! What is the deed that is most beloved to Allah?’ He
said, ‘To do like an arriving and departing man’. He asked, ‘And what
does an arriving and departing man do?’ He said, ‘He recites the Qur’an
from beginning to end. No sooner does he reach the end than he
starts reciting it anew.’” (Reported by At-Tirmidhi)
This reward is granted to anyone who recites the Qur’an from memory or reads it from a
copy of the Qur’an. Allah, Exalted be He, says:
Verily, those who recite the Book of Allah (this Qur’an),
and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend (in
charity) out of what We have provided for them, secretly
and openly, hope for a (sure) trade- gain that will never
perish. That He may pay them their wages in full, and give
them (even) more, out of His Grace. Verily! He is Oft-
Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (good deeds and to
recompense). (Fatir: 29-30)
May Allah bless you and me with the Great Qur’an and make us benefit from its
verses and wise words and benefit from the guidance and right sayings of the Imam of
Messengers. I have said what you have heard and I ask forgiveness of Allah for myself,
for you, and for all Muslims for any sin we have committed. Ask Allah for forgiveness.
He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
11
Part Two
Praise be to Allah, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower, Who sent down the
Qur’an. I praise my Lord and thank Him. I turn to Him in repentance and ask Him for
forgiveness. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, Who has no partners, the
Most Merciful, the One Who accepts repentance, and I bear witness that our prophet and
master, Muhammad, is His servant and messenger, the intercessor whose intercession
will be accepted on the Day of Judgment. O Allah! Bestow Your prayers, peace, and
blessings upon Your servant and messenger Muhammad and upon his family and
Companions, the followers of the Qur’an and the Sunnah.
O Muslims!
Fear Allah by drawing nearer to Him through doing good deeds and avoiding
prohibited acts.
O Muslims!
The last commandment of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in the
Farewell Pilgrimage called upon Muslims to adhere to the Book of Allah, Blessed and
Exalted be He. During that great gathering, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,
said, “Indeed, I am leaving among you that which if you hold fast to you will not be
misguided after me: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah.”
The Qur’an is the firm rope of Allah, and whoever adheres to it will be guided to
attain the good pleasure of Allah, the delights of Paradise, and all goodness, and will be
kept away from all evils and calamities. Allah, Exalted be He, says:
And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah
(i.e. this Qur’an), and be not divided among yourselves ...
(Al ‘Imran: 103)
Allah, Exalted be He, also says:
And this is a blessed Book (the Qur’an) which We have
sent down, so follow it and fear Allah (i.e. do not disobey
His Orders), that you may receive mercy (i.e. saved from
the torment of Hell). (Al-An‘am: 155)
Moreover, he who wants his Lord to talk to him should read His Book. The
people of the Qur’an are those who act upon its teachings, even if they do not learn it by
heart. It is even better and more virtuous to act upon its teachings and commit it to
memory at the same time.
12
Allah, Exalted be He, says:
Allah sends His Salat (Graces, Honours, Blessings, Mercy)
on the Prophet (Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon
him)) and also His angels (ask Allah to bless and forgive
him). O you who believe! Send your Salat on (ask Allah to
bless) him (Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon
him)), and (you should) greet (salute) him with the Islamic
way of greeting (salutation i.e. As-Salamu ‘Alaikum). (Al-
Ahzab: 56)
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “If a person asks Allah to send
blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him ten times over.” Therefore,
ask Allah to bestow His peace and blessings on the master of those who preceded us and
those who are yet to come, and the Imam of Messengers.
O Allah! Bestow Your peace upon Muhammad and his family, as You bestowed
Your peace on Ibrahim and his family, You are All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious. O Allah!
Bestow Your blessings upon Muhammad and his family, as You bestowed Your
blessings on Ibrahim and his family, You are All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious.
O Allah! Be pleased with all the Companions. O Allah! Be pleased with the
Rightly-Guided Caliphs and Imams, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali, along with all
Your Prophet’s Companions, with the Tabi’un (the contemporaries of the Prophet’s
Companions after his death), and with those who follow them in righteousness until the
Day of Judgment. O Allah! Be pleased with us together with them, by Your grace,
munificence, and mercy, O Most Merciful of all the merciful!
O Allah! Grant power and glory to Islam and Muslims. O Allah! Grant power and
glory to Islam and Muslims and subdue disbelief and disbelievers. O Allah! Show us the
truth as it really is and help us follow it, and show us falsehood as it really is and help us
avoid it, O Lord of the Worlds!
O Allah! Make our hearts hold fast to obedience to You.
Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after
You have guided, us and grant us mercy from You. Truly,
You are the Bestower. (Al ‘Imran: 8)
O Allah! Grant us sound understanding of Your religion. O Allah! Grant us and
all Muslims sound understanding of Your religion, O Lord of the Worlds! O Allah!
Protect us and our offspring from Satan, his offspring, his devils, and his soldiers, O Lord
of the Worlds!
13
O Allah! Make good our youth and all Muslim youth. O Allah! Make good our
youth and all Muslim youth, O Lord of the Worlds! O Allah! Make us good and make all
Muslims good. O Allah! Make good our offspring and the offspring of all Muslims, O
Lord of the Worlds!
O Allah, grant us safety in our homelands and make good our rulers.
O Allah! Forgive the sins of our dead, O Lord of the Worlds, and forgive the sins
of the dead of all Muslims. O Lord of the Worlds! O Allah! Forgive their sins and have
mercy on their souls.
O Allah! We ask You, O Owner of Majesty and Honour, to foil the plots of the
enemies of Islam, O Lord of the Worlds! O Allah! Foil their plots. O Allah! Thwart their
plans with which they intend harm against Islam; You are Powerful over all things!
O Allah! Help us perform acts of obedience to You, and help us avoid acts of
disobedience to You, O Lord of the Worlds!
O Allah! Protect us from the evil within ourselves and from our wicked deeds. O
Allah! Protect us from the evil of all evil-doers. O Allah! Protect us from the evil of all
evil-doers, O Lord of the Worlds!
O Allah! Forgive us our sins, O Lord of the Worlds! O Allah! We ask You to
forgive us what we have wronged ourselves with. O Allah! Forgive us what we have
wronged ourselves with, O Lord of the Worlds! O Allah! Protect us from the evil of all
wrong-doers; You are Powerful over all things!
O Allah! O our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the
Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire.
O Allah! Guide the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to do what You love and
accept. O Allah! Lead him to Your guidance, make all his deeds pleasing to You, and
grant support to Your religion through him; You are Powerful over all things!
O Allah! Guide his two Deputies to what You love and accept, O Lord of the
Worlds, and to the good of their people and to the good of Islam and Muslims, O Lord of
the Worlds!
O Allah! O Owner of Majesty and Honour! We ask You not to leave us to
ourselves for the blink of an eye. O Allah! Make good all our affairs; O All-Mighty! O
Most Strong!
O Allah! Protect Muslims, O Lord of the Worlds! O Allah! Protect Muslims
against the evil of those who have oppressed them; You are Powerful over all things! O
Allah! Turn the circle of evil against those who oppose Islam and Muslims, and those
14
who oppress Muslims and commit aggression against their honour, their property, and
their blood, O Lord of the Worlds! O Allah! Protect Muslims. O Allah! Protect their
religion, their honour, their blood, their property, and whatever they hold sacred, O Lord
of the Worlds!
Servants of Allah!
Verily, Allah enjoins Al-Adl (i.e. justice and worshipping
none but Allah Alone - Islamic Monotheism) and Al-Ihsan
[i.e. to be patient in performing your duties to Allah,
totally for Allah’s sake and in accordance with the Sunnah
(legal ways) of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon
him) in a perfect manner], and giving (help) to kith and
kin (i.e. all that Allah has ordered you to give them, e.g.,
wealth, visiting, looking after them, or any other kind of
help, etc.): and forbids Al-Fahsha’ (i.e. all evil deeds, e.g.
illegal sexual acts, disobedience of parents, polytheism, to
tell lies, to give false witness, to kill a life without right,
etc.), and Al-Munkar (i.e. all that is prohibited by Islamic
law: polytheism of every kind, disbelief and every kind of
evil deeds, etc.), and Al-Baghy (i.e. all kinds of
oppression), He admonishes you, that you may take
heed.) And fulfil the Covenant of Allah (Bai’a: pledge for
Islam) when you have covenanted, and break not the
oaths after you have confirmed them, and indeed you have
appointed Allah your surety. Verily! Allah knows what you
do. (An-Nahl: 90-91)
Remember Allah, the Most Great, the Sublime, and He will remember you. Thank
Him for His blessings and favours and He will give you more. Verily, remembrance of
Allah is greater than all, and Allah knows what you do.
